Elite Mare Denebola
Elite Mare Denebola became our next Champion foundation mare. Her dam was SPS Dukate. Her sire was the world famous dressage horse Donnerhall, whose lineage lives on in the vast majority of the top Olympic and World Cup horses today.
As a foal Denebola was champion when inspected by the German Verband. As a 3 year old she was Champion Mare when inspected by the American Hanoverian Society. The Verband registered her in their studbook as an overall 8 rated mare. As a 5 year old she was the Eastern Canadian Champion Mare and was awarded her Elite Candidate status. She was featued in the October 2000 Verband magazine as “Quality with the Maple Leaf”. As a six year old she was Ontario Level 1 and 2 champion with scores as high as 78% that year. She continued to show successfully up until Prix St. George when her rider, Patricia Close of Craig House Farm, retired her as a pleasure horse. In 2019 Denebola (24) and Patricia (76) became members of the dressage Century Club.
Elite Mare Denebola has had three foals, all embryo transfers, as she is too talented to be a brood mare. The first, the colt Fabrizio born in 2006, was sired by the five and six year old World Dressage Champion, Florencio. Fabrizio won the 5 year old Dressage Championship in British Columbia in September 2011 with a score of 74 %. He was also a consistent winner on both the California and BC circuits in 2011 with scores in the 70s when owned and ridden by Karen Pavavic.
Denebola’s next foal was a filly, Soraya/Sandro Hit, born in 2009. This Hanoverian Premium Mare Candidate, who in 2016 won the Eastern Canadian third level Gold Dressage Championship. She went on to school GrandPrix movements and was bought by Emma Sevriens, an advanced rider, and her parents Jos and Laura Sevriens of Stables at Blalock Lakes in Georgia USA. Jos, a Dutch trainer, young horse judge and a member of the board of directors of KWPN-NA intends to bred Soraya, while Emma continues to train her.
Then the colt Totem sired by Totilas was by born in 2012. He was exceptional the minute he touched the ground.
